Lees of Virginia

Two elegant buildings on the banks of the Potomac River are Stratford
Hall and the Curtis- Lee mansion. It was from here that the Lees of
Virginia brought prosperity and government to the British colonies and
fought for independence. Richard Lee arrived in Jamestown from England
about 1640 and began the era of fame for the family. Governor Thomas
Lee resided at Stratford Hall.
